I am totally addicted to shopping healthy ---it is like a game. Where can I find what I need? locally? I agree that you have to replace a bad habit with a good one - and in my mind shopping healthy is a great one!

Hi Jen! Oh boy do I love Trader's Point yogurt, I wish it was sold here in Boise. If we had a Whole Foods, we could get it...but I'm not crazy about Whole Foods in general...so it's a trade-off. And you're right, the price is pretty expensive for their yogurt. I try to make my own when we can, but we usually don't have enough raw milk left over as my son and husband drink it all each week before our delivery day comes again. When we travel to Las Vegas once or twice a year where my in-laws live, we go to Whole Foods for various things and ALWAYS Trader's Point yogurt is in my shopping cart! It's probably the best yogurt I think I've ever had...in my life!

It's great to connect with others who share this wonderful interest of good food, and love to research. I find that I spend way too much time doing those things on a regular basis. I guess that's why I do this blog too. Although not as much right now, due to home schooling. But I still keep it up as much as I possibly can. Thanks for reading! :)

Great post! I'm definitely addicted to shopping and searching out deals on truly nourishing foods! Not only that, but I research a lot too. I take heart, like you said, that there are worse things I could be doing with my time.

I find that when I slip just a little (which does happen occasionally) in eating habits, it's HARD to get back on track because I do crave the junk more. It's a vicious, addictive cycle.

Finally, we LOVE Traders Point yogurt, and many of their other products. It's local for us, and available through my organic delivery co-op. I order 1-2 quarts of the strawberry yogurt every week. What I need to do is start making my own from our raw milk... it would be much more cost effective!

Julie - I agree, profit seems to take precedent over health and well-being, but I commend those companies who have taken financial hits, small though they might be, to sell safer more natural products to their customers. It's a step in the right direction, I hope that tradition continues! Thanks for all your efforts in keeping up your web site!

Thanks for your efforts with this article. I research & write about subjects to do with synthetic chemicals and the potential dangers to children.

What constantly amazes me is that these large & trusted baby care product manufacturers can simply choose to forego a tiny bit of their annual profit and choose to replace the hazardous substances with organic substances that have zero dangers!!

The many popular brand companies have already made soooooo much money already - surely it is not all that difficult to make a little less $$$$$ and keep babies a little safer in this synthetic chemical controled world!!

Greed is something that never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for reminding me why I love my work!!!

Yours truly

I've never heard of mesquite flour, that sounds interesting. Although anything ground into flour should be suspect because the minute a whole substance is ground up, it can go rancid quickly. Now, I know there are really nutritious grains that are ground into flour and they are eaten by people with success - such as Teff, a hearty, Ethiopian grain that people who have trouble with Gluten can consume. I have also heard of flour made from grapes such as Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Curious to hear if anyone else has heard of these substances and what types of experiences had with them...???

Alyss - good for you! That's exactly what I do when I know I'm going to be away from home for pretty much any reason. I prepare something in advance to take with me or use leftovers for various things. I actually like the food I bring better than almost anything I could buy or eat at someone's house. Most of the time when I do cave in and buy something or just eat whatever someone is serving, I end up regretting it and wish I would have spent the extra time preparing my own food. It's so worth it! I hope your efforts continue to pay off!
